3 month recap…
I know..I’m a slacker. 3 months and no posts. And I very well can’t write about the past 3 months, so I’ll sum up.
WORK
* I worked on Hip-Hop Honors 2007 for VH1 this year. It’s one of the most fun shows I’ve worked on in a long time. The team I worked with was great…all women…no cat fights. They frickin rock! And if you saw the show, I have to say that it was pretty damn good. And from a Production Management standpoint, it went off without a hitch. No audio loss, no black screens, no fights. But this is what I was working on for the past few months…thus the reason I’ve not been posting.
These large events take time to plan and you get one shot to execute. There’s no reshooting or post-production magic. Well, there is some post magic, but post can’t fix everything. So needless to say, the hours were long. I lost a lot of sleep and my weekend for a while. But I love my work and I would do it again.
PERSONAL
* And since I’ve been working so much on the show, I’ve not had much of a personal life. Though this summer rocked in NYC. I attended a couple of New Yorker events that were fun. Park Jams, Habana Outpost corn & margaritas…mmmm. I also had the best b-day. I didn’t tell anyone it was my b-day. I just wanted to let the day be what it was supposed to be and it was great. I got my hair cut, went shopping, had brunch w/ a friend, concert in Ft Greene park, yummy dinner w/ friends, rockin BK house party (no mine). And all of it unplanned and organic. Lovely.
* I just got back from Hawaii for a friends wedding/vacation. The wedding was beautiful. LB & GG were MFEO (made for each other). Seriously…one of the best couples I’ve ever seen. After the wedding, Minuizzle & I stayed a couple of extra days and drove up to the N. Shore to hang. Not hang 10 though..those waves were too much for us. Pics are up at Flickr:
It was hard to leave…but I had to get back to life in the big apple. I would still rather live here than anywhere else.
