Obama wins SC
Obama has won the South Carolina caucus.
I think both Clinton and Obama are great candidates and we would be far better off if either of them won the election. While I do like Obama, I like Hillary more as the one to take the Democratic nomination for President. I do believe she has a much better track record and has proven herself to be a Politician who wants things to be better. I was a fan of Bill’s when he was in office so I have no problem with him being a player in her campaign. I think Obama will be a great President someday, but not now. I just haven’t seen enough of what he can do. While his ideals are great, that’s all they are to me right now. Ideals. I want someone who can fight through this political machine. Someone who does know the ins and outs. It’s about maneuvering your way to get policy in place. Understanding the economics and how they affect all of us, from the individuals to the upper class to the large corporations.
As for the vote on the war, I don’t hold Hillary’s vote against her. Though I oppose the war now, I don’t know what I would have voted back in then had I been in the Senate. I don’t know what kind of information they were given privately, in addition to the lies we were told publicly by GWB’s staff. So Obama not voting for the war is really not something that he gets points for as far as I’m concerned. Sorry…just the way it is.
The win for Obama in SC was crucial for him, and yes, we all expected him to win, and yes, it’s partly because of the black vote. Let’s not pretend that was the case. Even his own camp knows that he needed to win there in order for him to keep the momentum going. A loss for him would have been devastating to his campaign. I’m glad he won. It makes this whole race (as in race for the White House) more interesting. I think they will push each other and I want to see how they each handle it because there will be much tougher situations once you get into office. I don’t want either candidate to crush the other. The fact that is such a close race between a Black man and a Woman shows that this country is ready for something new and for the first time in our history, no matter how much people are talking about race and gender, they are still beating the white guy (Edwards). I honestly never thought I would see that.
And for the record, I do think Bill was fighting a little dirty. But not any more dirty than when Obama insinuated that Hillary’s comment about MLK and LBJ was racist. Is wasn’t racist. Not in the least. And this is Politics, after all.
Clinton & Obama have won 2 states each. Winning any of these previous states doesn’t guarantee anything especially since the Primary elections have been restructured so dramatically this year. There are plenty more states to go. Let’s see what happens on Super Tuesday.
And here’s what I have to say on the subject of change: Don’t talk about it. Be about it.
