Ok folks. My day is much busier than I expected it to be so I have to make this quick, but it doesn’t make it any less important.

While your vote is a personal one and voting is more important than who you vote for, it’s important to look at your candidates. These are the reasons I’m voting for Bill Thompson. If you haven’t already, please do your own research to make up your mind though.

A bittersweet day for Justice

Nov. 4th 2008 – Barack Obama elected as POTUS, the first African-American. Prop 8, which bans same-sex marriage, passes in CA. 

May 26th 2009 – Obama nominates Justice Sonia Sotomayor, the first Hispanic and the 3rd woman, to replace Justice Souter on the US Supreme Court. CA Supreme Courts upholds Prop 8 denying the Gay/Lesbian community equal rights.

Obama is Nerd Prom King!

Obama is Nerd Prom King!

As if we couldn’t love him enough, POTUS Barack Obama slayed at the annual White House Correspondence Association dinner this past Saturday. It’s been a while since there has been a President that I could watch without wanting to: a) throw up b) throw the TV against the wall c) throw a shoe at. So it is a refreshing change to have one that I look forward to seeing. As hoped, Pres. Obama delivered a great comic routine at the WHCD aka Nerd Prom.

It was interesting to see all the coverage from this dinner which had an increased number of celebrities attending. The inter-webs were all a twitter about it also. To the point that the C-Span twitter feed included the #nerdprom hashtag alongside the more official #whcd hashtag and MSNBC made jokes about it.

I am overcome with emotion and joy with the election of our 44th POTUS, the first African-American POTUS – President Elect Barack Obama.

I’m still crying tears of joy as I write this with echos of fireworks coming from the street. Our hope has beat the odds and is a testament to how great this country can be. He moved this country like no one could have. He will change the world like no one we have seen before. We, the people, are starting to heal as we speak and the rest of the world is sitting up and taking notice.
